I have been working at Pine Street Inn full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

This is an excellent place to work. Depending on your position, it can be incredibly challenging but very impactful and meaningful work. PSI expects employees to treat the population we serve with respect and dignity and they, in kind, treat their employees the same way. They have great trainings and make sure employees are educated to best and safest practices. The benefits are above average, start immediately (as they should everywhere!) and while not guaranteed, raises and/or bonuses are given annually to all hourly staff

    Cons

If you're not cut out to working with and servicing a diverse population of people who can be suffering with addiction, mental illness and/or homelessness then this work isn't for you. Must be firm but compassionate. Cannot be "corporate cut throat". Atmosphere is mutual respect and compassion is sewed in the fiber of PSI.

    Advice to Management

Trust your staff and really listen to their suggestions/criticisms. Also, while the training sessions offered are invaluable, repeating mandatory ones aren't necessary. Lyndia is an excellent leader and does a wonderful job sharing the company's plans and vision. All levels of managers should follow that example.
