I worked at PopCap Games full-time (Less than a year)

Pros

Positive fun atmosphere, competitive salaries, good benefits, nice perks like free food, free bus passes, challenging technical work. Great place to learn and grow in different technical directions.

Cons

Reorganizations, layoffs, mid-level management indecision about technical strategies.
Concerned that new corporate owner EA may change character of company over time, make it more corporate.

Advice to Management

Keep focused on creating the next generation of fun games.

I worked at PopCap Games full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Small game teams are great, individual devs trend towards awesome. Company workforce culture organization takes care of the employees at a great baseline. Games are classics and everyone tries to have a lot of fun. Quirky vibe to organization.

    Cons

Management is afraid of confrontation, can't or doesn't communicate well, most middle management is incompetent (promoted to management without management skills), have and have nots chasm is large. Don't understand how to ship software with any consistency. Bad/useless employees are not exited. Not good at hiring - lots of bad employees get in the door.

    Advice to Management

    Replace yourselves.

    Pros

PopCap is a company that understands and takes care of its employees. They don't overwork their employees and they are understanding when life throws curve balls. I am very content working there.

    Cons

Wish we had more games out there because PopCap Games are the Pixar of the casual game space.

    Advice to Management

Great guys. I'd buy them lunch.
