I worked at Pratt Institute part-time (More than a year)

Pros

Very welcome and nice working environment, can get chances to see lots of amazing portfolios from applicants from all over the world, can wear casually.

Cons

It's just a normal office job, don't expect there is a lot of fun since it's a design school

Advice to Management

could be more efficient, sometime a call could solve problem instead of sending people walking to different departments on the campus.

    Pros

Dedicated professors, interesting art students and academic assignments. Lectures, outdoor graduation day. Great benefits working in higher education 20 plus days vacation, over 10 sick days, personal days, tuition reimbursement at other colleges, 403B annuity plan. Relaxed atmosphere vs. faced paced NYC companies. Parking lots if you want to drive to work. Nice library.

    Cons

Crime in the area. Thefts on campus and dorm rooms. The G train station. Distance from NYC. Takes too long to implement certain administrative actions. Turnover of higher management particularly Institutional Advancement. Or no turnover -some people stay for years in the same job. . No new ideas, just the same drones.

    Advice to Management

Certain departments (adminstrative and academic) operate the same way for years repeating the same results, same people in the same jobs. Yawn.
