I worked at Pratt & Whitney as a contractor (More than a year)

Pros

I was working as a contract. They invite contracts in on all hands meetings.

Cons

If you are a contract doing software for Auxiliary Power units, the person in charge is pretty mean to the new contract hires, and yells at you about every little mistake. Folks get let go in less than a month for minor issues, or for not being able to read minds. If you do survive the first month, it is still pretty stressful. Seems like everything you do is wrong (really the manager, changes his mind about what he wants every day, but blames you for incompetence for not seeing the managers "final" idea)

Blue badges also don't like to mingle with yellow badges (contracts) - don't expect anyone to invite you out with them to lunch - or go with you if ask them to lunch.

This stuff really gets you down after awhile.

Advice to Management

Give the manager of the department anger management and employee relations training.
