Advice to Management

They need to please learn how to manage. They mix too much personal with business, they play favoritism with certain employee while exploiting others.

I worked at Praxair full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Personal are 90% + pro's at what they do and at what they represent. Safety is provided to all personal and #1 on how it is taught, practiced (followed) and documented. All personal are very proud of their positions and skill level. Morale is very high depending on the division they are employed in. Benefits to employee's are at the best level obtainable.

    Cons

Leadership is lacking, mainly due to upper mgmt. not allowing local manager's to manage their local personal or area's they serve. (Operation Driven instead of Sale's) Too much reporting and information gathering being required by upper mgmt. and operation's (needlessly) hindering actual sale's call's needed to be made along with useless meeting to be attended to. (Meeting's are not for training purpose's, they are for chart's and graph's which are forgotten about within the hour after attending and usually are geared toward's operation's information) No school's or training being given in area's required for sale's implementation, application's for equipment or supplies being represented and sold, leaving only price issue's left to discuss with client's instead of being able to offer the expertise the client is so needing and seeking (willing to pay "extra" for) as a "partnership" with us over what the competitor could not bring to the table. Lastly, but most importantly, the compensation issue ... it does not given to employee's as it should be where earned ? After being hired .. the employee not only waits forever to be given a raise when they fulfill all the job requirement's met as expected, the amount given is no less than an insult .. for a job well done ? (I've "never" seen it come even close to being a reward ... less alone it come close to helping in any way for inflation ?) A lot of "ata'boy's" and we will get'cha next time talk ... even if you went above and beyond the call of duty ... a certificate or some small trophy is received by the employee ? (Ever tried to pay your bill's or eat one of those .. ?) They are long on what they want and talk about what's required by them ... but fall mile's from being even "fair" for any reward's !!

    Advice to Management

First ... compensate and reward your people more timely and fairly, and never forget that "they" (the employee's ... even in mgmt position's) are the one's that get the job done, and alway's remember too that "they" are not only the eye's and ear's of the company ... but also are the "EARN"ERS !!! "
Provide more training where it is applicable and "Let your Manager's & Personal do their job's !" (Let loose of the rein's guy's ....... that you give them the title for .... let them make the company money for you .... and "clobber" the competition with the customer screaming ... "I want to be a "partner" with Praxair !! "
