I have been working at Preferred Electric full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

The owners are a part of everything. They are very accessible and easily approchable.

Cons

Some management seems overbearing at times. Intentions are good just not carried out properly.

Advice to Management

Work on "people management" don't be so goal oriented that you forget the people in the process. Be open to all situations, not just the emergencies.

I have been working at Preferred Electric full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Large company with a small company feel. The two owners know most of the employees by name and really seem to care about them. Its a relaxed workplace.

    Cons

PECI has an outdated business operation. They seem to do things the way it would have been done 30 years ago instead of how modern companies operate. They still use paper files and the people in charge of the projects and responsible for the performance and profitablity of their jobs don't have access to the information needed to work at maximum effectiveness but have to ask a secretary to print reports for them, type letters and update files.

    Advice to Management

Move into the modern era, give PM's access to the accounting software, eliminate the purchasing agents position and keep the warehouse out of ordering material (it takes forever to make a material list on their form and really wastes time) . Basically get the processes that stifle innovation and productivity out of the way and focus on ways to make us more efficient.

I worked at Preferred Electric full-time

    Pros

Great holiday parties, and perks like catered lunch once a month. Owners of the company truly seem to care about individuals working there. Benefits are very good.

    Cons

Poor leadership and nepotism has created a toxic culture of fear. Too much micromanagement on all levels, & unprofessional office culture which creates a high turnover of employees/uneasy work environment. Changes are implemented too often without given a chance to work or for employees to get used to the changes.
