I worked at Princess Cruise Lines as a contractor (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Princess tends to hire shipboard personnel that always have a fantastic dispositions and are easy to get along with. Since you will be spending every day with these people anywhere from 6 to 8 months at a time, it is important that you get along with everyone! Plus being paid to travel the world will enrich your outlook and make the world your home!

    Cons

    Long hours and low pay.

I worked at Princess Cruise Lines as a contractor (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The crew comes from some 35 different nationalities and all work and play together in harmony
    You make great friends

    Cons

On board things work in a silo mentality - little cooperation between departments
Home office is often out of touch with the reality of the on-board product
Quality has dropped in order to make the numbers - now on-board everything is sell, sell sell
Your happiness on board depends a lot on the particular management on that ship
Kind of incestuous - living and loving together often gives preference to folks in relationships with higher rank officers, but that is shipboard life
On-board experience often cannot live up to customer expectations created by corporate sales folks

    Advice to Management

C.R.U.I.S.E. is a great concept, but like many other concepts, ideas from Santa Clara it doesn't actually get implemented on board. There is a major disconnect between the ships and the "beards" in the home office.
