Pros

There are excellent benefits here, the staff is experienced and very friendly, and the work atmosphere is very comfortable. The Press has an outstanding reputation, and working here is really a pleasure.

Cons

There isn't really much wrong with the Press itself, but the area surrounding the Press' location can be a bit dull. Princeton proper has its fair share of restaurants and shopping, but for a college town the community is introverted and the cost of living is on the high side.

Advice to Management

I think the leadership here is great. Everyone in an administrative position is knowledgeable and willing to help.

    No opinion of CEO

    Pros

Free books, relaxing environment, great reputation, good benefits, very nice and sweet coworkers.

    Cons

Independent work is encouraged to the point where socialization seems non-existent. Most of the time, there is complete silence in the office.

    Advice to Management

    Create more opportunities for teamwork.

I worked at Princeton University Press full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

PUP is a great place to start your career in publishing, or really any field. The management puts a high value on professional growth and is genuinely interested in helping you succeed. I've been gone from PUP for a few years but still see my coworkers there as good friends and would happily return if the opportunity arose.

    Cons

Because people further along in their careers know a good thing when they see it, there's not a ton of room for advancement into management positions. Also, the salaries aren't fantastic, but it's academic publishing!

    Advice to Management

Keep on doing what you're doing!
