I worked at Princeton University full-time (More than a year)

Pros

Wicked smart faculty and graduate students, and exceptionally strong undergraduates that are a pleasure to teach

Cons

Post docs are few and far between, and there is a tendency for them to fall through the cracks - not being included on faculty or graduate student email lists means being the last person in the world to hear about important policy changes or social activities

Advice to Management

none really - better career placement services might be useful I guess.

I have been working at Princeton University full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great professors, freedom to work whenever you want, and your advisors care a lot about your progress through the program. You have tons of ownership over whatever you are working on.

    Cons

Although the workload is self-imposed, you often feel like you have to be working as hard as you can, as much as you can. It can eat away at a good work-life balance.

    Advice to Management

The first year should focus less on coursework and more on research work.

I have been working at Princeton University full-time

    Pros

The University has really good research facilities that are very equipped with latest technology. There is a lot of investment in campus and the departments so that everything just seems to work well.

    Cons

It is quite expensive to live in the local area, a problem that has not really been addressed by the university who generally recruit using the NIH minimum rate. This this often means that lower and mid-level staff, such as postdocs and research assistants, have to commute quite a distance to and from work.
