I worked at Procter & Gamble as an intern (Less than a year)

Pros

Great leadership in the engineering department. They truly emphasize the "Promote from Within" culture and a lot of the senior management were promoted from the company

Cons

Not global pay. I was offered a local pay in China which was significantly lower that in the U.S. So I declined the offer

I have been working at Procter & Gamble part-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Large successful company who gives back to the community. Great for flexible work arrangements. Benefits are good with ample amount of vacation days.

    Cons

Little fish in BIG pond. Hard to get recognized for good work completed. Hard to get promoted on a less than full time schedule that P&G itself promotes.

    Advice to Management

Recognize people even for small accomplishments.

  2. "Great training ground for general managers."

I have been working at Procter & Gamble full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Opportunity to work on Tier 1 brands, access to resources, fantastic training, talented peers.

    Cons

Very hierarchical, sometimes too process driven, focused on near term gains, with minimal regard to long term brand impacts (2 - 3 year management rotations)

    Advice to Management

It's not enough to hired the most talented folks from out of school, there has to be a plan to help these individuals grow, a post hire checkpoint on performance.
