Negative Outlook

I worked at Progress Energy full-time (More than 10 years)

Pros

Transparency of Senior Management's actions, integrity, great people to work with and to work for

Cons

Communication has come a long way in the last 11 years but cross departmental was restricted, I.T. seems to drive everything in the company instead of the other way around.

Advice to Management

You should have steered clear of the Duke merger because that is one unethical, backstabbing group of executive managers

    Pros

Ethical, caring, management sacrifices for employees, management support for project development and employee ideas, intentional efforts to increase diversity in upper management.

    Cons

Difficult to obtain a promotion without changing positions. This allows employees with skills, experience and talent to be lost to other parts of the company where they are not as effective just so they can get promoted.

    Advice to Management

Analyze the promotion strategy within the technical lines of promotion to prevent arbitrarily holding employees at a lower level because a quota is filled at a higher level.

    Pros

There was no distinction between contractor and permanent employees. They treated us all the same.

    Cons

Over work of full time permanent employees because of poor resource allocation / management.
