Pros

Passionate crew members, compelling company mission statement

Cons

Sorely lacking in communication and structure. Employees are left to make quick decisions on the fly and are then chastised in front of everyone when our attempts to keep things running without proper leadership doesn’t work. They continually promise raises and better work conditions, only to change the goalposts and kick the can further down the line. Any suggestions for improvement that are brought to the owners by employees are ignored or met with punitive measures.

Pros

There are some really awesome people working here. The product is great.

Cons

The rapid growth strategy is senseless and destined to fail. Pay not great. Work is very hard. One of the owners is a nightmare and can’t accept feedback - from employees OR customers. Just look at how he has to write an excessively long and condescending response to every negative Google review. It’s embarrassing for the business.

Hello and thank you for your feedback. I am glad to hear that you love our products and the people that work at Proof. That is a big set of foundational wins. I'm sorry you don't agree with the strategy we are pursuing. So far, it is working and has been for the last 8 years. We don't believe in endless growth, but as a low margin food service business we do believe we need to reach a certain level of overall production in order to be able to meet our obligations and goals especially surrounding creating better jobs for our team. You're right, I do tend to take some of the online negative Google reviews personally and I am working on it. That said, we want to hear the feedback our team has for the business. Did you end up conducting an exit interview? If not, it isn't too late. Reach out to hr@proofbread.com. It doesn't have to do anything with me. Did you feel you manager also didn't listen to your feedback? Its okay to have doubts over business strategy, but it would be helpful to know how this impacted your day to day job in a negative way.
