Pros

Opportunity for advancement, good place to start a career. They have good training programs, but not great. Their system for knowledge sharing works pretty well, and the caliber of the majority of the staff is top notch, definitely learn a lot from them with regard to the industry and how to go about engaging clientele.

Cons

Not all management are qualified to be management level. There should be more time put towards training programs to get staff more knowledgeable in the different fields of their interest, instead of just being assigned the same type of projects (unless that's the staff's preference). Shadowing doesn't really take place as much as it should.

Advice to Management

don't just deflect and delegate, show how to do it as well

    Pros

Career advancement opportunities are abundant. Managers are really helpful and even senior management is accessible (at times). If you want to join a niche team, it's not that hard, you just have to talk to people in HR.

    Cons

I don't always agree with the promotions and I think politics plays a role there. The whole promotions process is opaque. Extreme cost cutting measures might start to encroach upon benefits, but that is just speculation.

    Advice to Management

Diversity the solutions and have a balance between things. Protiviti cannot continue to be so reliant on internal audit and SOX work. There's a lot that can be done on the technology side to generate more business.

    Pros

Opportunity knocks, while you will not be rewarded in anyway (minimal praise, minimal compensation) you will be offered great opportunities to learn while executing, the better you are at executing the more opportunities will be presented. This was a great starting point for my career, but be weary of getting burned out by doing to much. In the end it is what you make of it. As others have emphasized it can be a fun place to work, you will typically make friends (specifically in cliques). A good place to pay your dues for early in your career but not to foster it.

    Cons

There is a lot too much to list. Top 3 in my eyes: Compensation (work hard and get no reward, bring in more work at any level lower than a manager you get no reward besides minimal praise for lining other peoples pockets with compensation bonuses), Lack of Work Life balance (once you are ingrained in the company you don't know where your job ends and when it begins because as they say regardless of where you are you are always representing Protiviti...), Respect (You get none as a consultant I/II you are considered staff not an actual employee, even though the CNs carry the company.)

    Advice to Management

Get the right people on the bus and the wrong ones off, and compensate appropriately. There is too much old anderson employees who are buddies who will never be let go regardless of how horrible they perform or represent the company.
