I worked at Public Communications Inc. full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

PCI is a mid-level PR firm in Chicago. Their clients typically are healthcare associations or museums and local cultural attractions. The people that work there are great and they really go above and beyond to help their clients. Group regularly gives back to charity and they always throw little parties for the teams to celebrate hard work and success.

    Cons

Turn-over is common. PR is a stressful field as it is, but although they go above and beyond for clients, that often makes for long-hours, no time for lunches, and a workhorse attitude. Granted, you should work hard at your job, but a work-life balance is important, too.

    Advice to Management

Managers shouldn't be promoted to manager levels just based on years they've been working there. Not everyone makes a good manager, however, PCI did have some outstanding managers.

    Pros

    -Awesome clients
-Pay is pretty standard for the industry
    -Great office location
-Most employees are friends with each other outside of work

    Cons

-Some upper level management (VPs) has favorites
-Very poor communication between some VPs and employees
-Employee opinion of some management is negative
-Job performance is not revealed to you until you have a review

    Advice to Management

Speak to employees about job performance outside of reviews, encourage team unity, don't assume employees don't put forth effort if you are not their primary supervisor.
