I worked at Publix part-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

Young individuals can learn valuable lessons and skills from this job especially like organization, tolerance, loyalty, and customer service.

Cons

Management is not the most organized and the continuous change in the customer service managers is difficult to deal with.

Advice to Management

The managers should communicate more with each other and focus more on their job instead of casually talking with one another.

I have been working at Publix part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Benefits even at part-time, including access to 401K, stock plans, medical, dental, even life insurance for you and your loved ones. Also Publix is very incorporated into the community and itsprograms such as United Way, March of Dimes, etc.

    Cons

Part-timers don't get time/half for working holidays like other businesses give... which is annoying. Also, as a part-timer you aren't eligible to move up into management positions.

    Advice to Management

Holiday pay for part-timers- most businesses give this standard...Also, part-timers should be allowed to ROI for management positions- like in my store where full-time isn't available, but i'm so interested in moving up within the company, but am unable to- even though I only work and average of 5 hours less than my full time co workers....

I have been working at Publix part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Founded by a great man with great beliefs
    - Treat their employees well -- you can get benefits as part time
    - Always shifts to pick up
    - Eligible for a raise every 6 months

    Cons

    - Pay isn't that great starting out
    - It doesn't matter if you have a legitimate reason or not for being late, late is late; and 5 minutes or 2 hours, they both count equally against you
    - Some of the things they let customers get away with is outrageous

    Advice to Management

Pay more attention to employees & how well they do their job. Make sure to put the best of the best training people so it gets done correctly. Also, revamp the late/tardy policies.
