I have been working at Publix part-time (More than a year)

Pros

The whole store becomes a big family. You meet all sorts of colorful people. Great benefits (especially for students!). Very flexible with your personal schedule/school schedule.

Cons

Occasionally bump into obnoxious, whiny, loud customers. Takes WAY TOO LONG to move up to Full Time. Not even going to lie... the pay rate for my position is under payed. very.

Advice to Management

Everything is great, but stop being so stingy with what you pay your associates! Publix is paying their managers much more attention than the ones who truly deserve it; the employees.

I have been working at Publix part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Positive work environment and great colleagues. Good benefits and always room for growth and learning.

    Cons

Some negative experiences with customers (as can be expected in a service position). Long hours on your feet. Always getting stuck with closing shifts because the full-time staff takes all of the morning/day shifts.

I have been working at Publix part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

A lot of good coworkers, Pay was decent, Tuition reimbursement. most sub-department(produce, seafood, pharmacy, etc.) managers are good

    Cons

A lot of the managers are not as appreciative as they say they are. A lot of big department managers can be clueless about a lot of things. Some are only managers by title and by no means are leaders like they should be. Some common expectancies like respect are hard to get from some managers. You will find that managers are like a professional family and the other associates are excluded from that professionalism. Non management associates tend to form a family of their own and they get shunned by the management. Some managers are very strict and some of the rules are very inconvenient and make common tasks very difficult. If you are under the age of 18 there are many tasks that you will not be able to do like take out people in riding carts. If you are a front service clerk (bagger), and your store does not have a custodian, then you can expect to do a lot of cleaning.

    Advice to Management

Have more respect for the non management and part time employees. Interact with them more and ask them how they are doing. Ask them if there is anything you can take care of. Simple things like this will do a lot of good. Do not be driven by dreams of going to corporate. Your team will do a lot better if the non management associates you manage are happy
