You work really hard but do not receive the pay you should receive.

Advice to Management

They should learn to appreciate employee more.

I worked at Publix part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

This was my first job, so I remember it through rose colored glasses. I really liked this company. I was a bagger, but it wasn't bad since I was a teenager and everyone else bagging at my store was my age, friendly and fun. The managers were very watchful of us, but they were also patient when they needed to be.

    Cons

You have to look very cookie cutter if you work for them. They don't like fun things like gauged ears, or spiked hair. There was one girl who got in trouble for wearing plain jane hoop earrings that management thought were inappropriate.

    Advice to Management

Let employees accept tips! I remember how mad and offended some customers would get when I refused their money after helping them take groceries out to their car.

I have been working at Publix full-time

    Pros

Job security and terrific salary with stock options. That's what keeps the managers feeling trapped once they're promoted.

    Cons

No work life balance. You are part of the work force but are expected to manage like you aren't. You are expected to work openings, mids, closings and overnights. You salary is based on a fluctuating work week formula so the longer you work the less you make. Unrealistic expectations for the amount of labor you are given. The extra work always falls on you and your assistant. Be prepared to sign your life over if you are promoted.

    Advice to Management

    None.
