I worked at PwC full-time (More than a year)

Pros

- brand name
- working with the best and brightest
- great training and coaching opprtunities
- build solid foundation to launch an accounting career

Cons

- underpay considerng the long hours and work weekends
- elitst mentality
- poor work life-balance
- revolving door. Lack of long-term retention programs and career development opprtunities for those not interested in making partners

Advice to Management

Need to invest in people for longterm and fix the attrition to build a team of experienced accounting professionals. Under the existing model only the partners have solid experience and the rest are mostly young and inexerienced and just assing through.

I worked at PwC as an intern

    Pros

Most of the people I met at PwC were very friendly and welcoming. As an intern, this was a big factor in getting myself integrated with the firm and the team I was with.

    Cons

The communication between the different LoS is sometimes delayed and jagged. Thus, it often creates confusion to people like me, an intern, when trying to explore more about each LoS for my future.

  2. "Good training ground and career progression but very average pay"

I have been working at PwC full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The company had a strong focus on training and development, and the UK supports your qualification (ACA through the graduate route) financially and for time off.

    Cons

First year's salary had not changed much (if at all) for about 5 years, the only pay increase you get is through going up the grades. The company encourages you to recoup more for 'additional efforts' from the clients but you generally don't get a share of these unless you are part of the senior management.

    Advice to Management

Start addressing pay as an issue rather than avoiding them by talking about 'overall package' and 'people's experience' during annual reviews.
