I worked at Pythian full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

As usual from other reviews, Work from home is a great benefit. CEO Paul is very inspirational, Motivating personality. Great support on conferences (financially). Great support for trainings and certifications.

    Cons

    1. Filling 8 Hours per day is painful when there is no sufficient work available within the team. We need to find work from our team or other teams to complete 8 hours, even though its duty of the manager to assign work. 2. Some employees sitting from years, decades and have a very good hold in a company and they can easily blame newcomer. I had a very bad experience with my Manager and Colleague as they are blamed for no reason. God knows well what is happened and unfortunately, management has to listen to one of the employees and blamed me on all the corners. But they will pay/suffer definitely and finally forced me to resign from Pythian. This is really unacceptable and unexpected. 3. Lot of politics 4. To fill the 8 hours time, it will force us to fill wrong time to customers. Else we our salary will be dedcuted or have to pay leaves. This is bad part of the company, I recommend to change the policies. 5. I have seen resources, who fill 2 hours for even 10 minutes of work. Customer finally a big looser.

Great to hear you enjoyed the flexibility to work from home and the benefits we give towards employees professional development. I also agree that Paul our CEO does a great job at inspiring the team which makes us feel well connected to Pythian’s mission. I acknowledge it’s not always an easy task to fill hours when there isn’t sufficient work however billing unworked hours is a violation of our policies and is unacceptable. I am sorry that you feel your experience with our long term employees wasn’t great. I, however, have seen the support tenured employees have given to new hires and a mentor role they’ve taken on to share their knowledge and experience with the team. Our global team is comprised of many long-standing employee Laureates ( employees at 5 and 10 years tenure) employees who make up about 25% of our organization. I would absolutely welcome you to reach out to me if you'd like to discuss specific concerns that you believe have not been properly heard. You can contact me directly at graham@pythian.com.

I’m glad to see that you enjoyed our SEED allowance that we provide to all employees for their continuous development. This is a popular perk amongst our team members as they can use their allowance to attend conferences, subscribe to online trainings, attend workshops and much more! With regards to time tracking, I understand that at times it can be challenging, however it is important for our clients to maintain transparency the projects we work on. I would absolutely welcome you to reach out to our Director of HR, Heather Hillier if you'd like to discuss specific concerns that you believe have not been properly heard. You can contact her directly at hillier@pythian.com.
