Pros

People is the only redeeming factor and friendships are usually the only thing that is preventing people from leaving. However as turn over increases, the original culture is diluted, not a cohesive team and more an individual game to gain favor. Acquisitions team is doing a good job to merge companies that complete and complement the current offerings, however mergers are usually handled quite haphazardly.

Cons

The VP is a hierarchical power tyrant and and has no understanding of matrix reporting line and only wants all all report lines. There is too many managers and too little specialist that actually have to do the work, however there is no strategy and focus down to the regional levels, commercial operations does not align the global strategies (if any). Some managers have no prior experience for the roles that have been designated for, hence creating multiple backlog of work and unclear objectives. Management/ Senior Management in Singapore is lacking empathy and strategy as well. Generally if you don't work for commercial operations department you don't get any recognition or support. Benefits and package wise, QIAGEN is really lean and less competitive as compared to the industry, there is no flexibility with package offerings and HR is intolerable such that checking MOM policies is a must. Salary and commission was late by 1 week for around 6 months till it is currently outsourced to a vendor.
