I have been working at R/GA full-time (Less than a year)

Pros

- Really talented, dedicated people. Hard to find someone who is a screw-up.
- Salary is on the better side of competitive.
- Very relaxed work environment.

Cons

- Very little oversight from upper management
- Tends to rely on talent rather than good organization, resulting in slightly skilled water treading instead of power swimming.

Advice to Management

Take a more active role.

I have been working at R/GA full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

High salary and great benefits with pretty nice offices. The agency is constantly pitching and winning new business and has a roster of great clients. If you can get on Nike you're career is probably set.

    Cons

If you don't get on Nike you might get stuck doing some really boring work and toiling away on low profile projects. It can be really hard to get anyones attention within the agency and placed on new work.

    Advice to Management

Rotate your designers around more. If there are people with specific niche talents get them to work on all sorts of projects or else they'll go stale. If they've dedicated more than a year to a crappy account or a thankless task, give them what they ask for and put some other poor sap in their place.

    I worked at R/GA full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Really smart people. Great client roster. Leading-edge thinking. Strong in-house tech and studio capabilities. Tremendous emphasis on user experience and interaction design. Probably the best digital agency out there.

    Cons

Not a very nurturing environment – very much sink or swim. Long hours encouraged and expected. Egos to match the size of the intellects. More competitive than collaborative. Not the prettiest part of town in which to work. Three separate buildings and "boutique agency" account structure can feel isolating.
