I worked at RAINN full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

RAINN provides support for survivors of sexual assault and abuse. It aims to help those who seek help and provide helpful resources,

    Cons

Behind the screens, the administration of the organization is highly subjective, fickle towards their employees, shows no concern for the well-being of their own employees. It's unfortunate to say that although it provides a huge service to the world, those who are running it need to re-evaluate their own morals, standards, professionalism.

    Advice to Management

Many of your employees are dedicated to what they do for RAINN, yet those who are left in charge tend to work based on their biased rhetoric. There is no clarity as to what goals are desired and even then, there is a lack of support on actually executing the job. Please consider hiring someone in your HR department that doesn't give the same aura Cruella De Vil. Your president needs to actually DO something instead... of sit there and just look pretty. Your hotline shift managers need to reflect on their own flaws before their hunger for power in such a low-end position gets to their head. It is disappointing to say that the organization intends on helping others and being supportive, yet it cannot seem to support its own employees especially when they are going through life hardships as well. The "improvement" plans that you do are a weak attempt to better work performance. RAINN use to be an organization that focused on everyone's well-being, but as the years have gone by, it transitioned into the same yuppy-run non-profit that will gladly take any type of grant money and prioritize a holiday party, instead of paying people their owed vacation time, giving employees well-earned raises, or actually using that money to support in need. I appreciated RAINN, but now I hope your organization burns to the ground.

I worked at RAINN part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Staff is hardworking, passionate, and fun. I looked forward to going into the office to be around colleagues. Family-like environment. Loved leadership's attention to self-care and the risk of secondary trauma- provided lots of supportive resources and protocol to manage the nature of the work.

    Cons

This type of work can cause burnout if you're not diligent about self-care and work/life balance.

I have been working at RAINN part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Great place to work. Teaches you team-work and empathy.

    Cons

Management that is above the managers you work with every day. Some of the rules are inconsistent and not taught to you.
