Approves of CEO

Pros

Good reputation and highly regarded. A lot of talents within the network. Fantastic support from management. Lot of resources to keep you informed of what is happening outside your franchise.

Cons

Career movement depends on who you are working with. They think they own their clients. Motto "Client First" is a lie.

Advice to Management

Don't trash your staffs. They are resourceful with great discipline. You could have the best system in the Canadian world. Let's keep it that way.

    No opinion of CEO

    Pros

Good Benefits, half way decent pay. That's about it.

    Cons

Unrealistic (actually outrageous) sales goals relative to market penetration. Regional managers vary in their leadership styles and it's not so bad if you're in a region with a good RM. Top level management are not in touch with reality. They pass down blanket "one size fits all" directives and marketing gimmicks which work in some areas and fail miserably in others. The stress caused by micro-management (the worst I've seen in my entire career) coupled with the unattainable goals make this place a nightmare to work at. It would seem that back office people differ in their opinion completely- probably because they're not dealing with the same level of managerial disconnect due to back office's isolation from the market. The disconnect filters down to clients. I actually had customers tell me that the only reason they stayed there was because they like branch staff but actually hate the bank. Work here only if you love to telemarket prospects, harass existing clients into opening more accounts that aren't really needed, enjoy lousy back up support, getting 90% of your loan applications turned down, and if you enjoy being bullied.

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees with WAY more respect, i.e., stop micromanaging them. Eliminate operational redundancy. Stop re-writing manuals once a month. Quit pretending that top performer trips and lousy quarterly incentives are the best way to motivate your front line staff. Quit promoting people because they had the most sales...most high performers work in busy markets with branches on every corner, and don't have to make one telemarketing call after another to get the business!

    Disapproves of CEO

    Pros

Take their experience/ training and get out for a better salary job. Their salaries are well below the market average and the company is always looking to squeeze every penny out of the employees. But after surviving their culture you can survive anywhere.

    Cons

Very low salaries. Probably the lowest in the market. It seems that everyone is out to get you rather than to support you to achieve your objectives.

    Advice to Management

Look after your employees. You are only management when you have people to manage. The latest re-structure is killing the company as they have not matched the right people with the proper skill for the jobs.
