- Fantastic group of people assembled (some with 30+ years of tenure, others that are 1st or 2nd year University students). A multigenerational workforce that were all focused on creating high quality, innovative products. - Probably the coolest list of customers to work with imaginable, and the opportunity to see the products you created be accessed by literally billions of people. - An opportunity to work on the cutting edge of the digital media and broadcast sectors. Ross (1) Builds robots (2) Has a motion graphics engine that also integrates with it's AR/VR solution (3) Creates software that powers some of the biggest TV events across the World, from elections to sports championships and oh yeah, (4) Manufactures all of it's hardware in a small town in Ontario, creating jobs and $10's of millions of $'s for the local economies. - The CEO is a genuine dude, whose main focus is on growing the # of high wage jobs in the area... yeah, not on revenue (although they have almost 30 straight years of revenue growth now and certainly do a great job of that too) but on growing the # of high paying jobs. While that's unfortunately an uncommon goal for a lot of CEO's, it speaks a lot to David's character, and the character of his father before him, who founded the company. While he can certainly be demanding, and expects results, it's what's led the company to so much success, and ultimately his vision of building the company from a Switcher & Infrastructure products company into a full fledged Broadcast powerhouse, with solutions for nearly every type of broadcast, no matter how big or small. - Renovated their Ottawa offices and they looked amazing when complete. Think the pandemic has probably kept most people at home, but when they go back it should be really great! - If you are into tech (like I am), tremendous opportunity to play around with gear and get to learn more about a lot of the underlying technology that powers the stuff which broadcasts what we watch on our computers, tablets, etc. every day. Even though I wasn't in R&D, many people took time out of their day to show me how to use our products and how they added value, and that aspect of it was incredibly cool.
Cons
- Because of the rapid growth, and because there have been many (smart, strategic) acquisitions over the years, sometimes it could get a bit overwhelming trying to keep track of everything the company does and how it all fits together. I think that as time goes on, and as the company continues to mature it's program management function, these issues will subside. - At the time, there were a few pieces that were lacking from the "total rewards" puzzle which other companies that were Ross Video's size had. I think those issues have been alleviated, and were solely a product of having grown so fast (there are only so many things that you can implement at a time).

Not much can really be said.
Cons
If you aren't vaccinated for a REMOTE job you'll be put on a indefinite suspension without pay until you leave (or get fired).

I'm sorry that it didn't work out for you. Your role required that you be trained in person extensively by other Ross staff and that meant you needed to be vaccinated at that time for everyone's safety. The remote aspect wasn't relevant to the decision. (Noting that you actually only worked at Ross for one month). Living with Covid is an evolving process and our company policies have continually evolved to align with global laws, and to maximize the health and safety of our team and our customers. I'm sorry that your vaccination preferences didn't align with Ross policies at that time. - David Ross
