I have been working at RPX full-time (More than a year)

Pros

- Smart/ well qualified individual contributors
- Average compensation, but they are in a industry very difficult to get comparable
- Very nice location (very expensive location)
- Reasonable benefits
- Excellent IT group!

Cons

- Minimal/Zero Growth potential, you need to accept "it is what it is"
- Highly "political" and "click" environment. If you are not part of the "circle of trust" don't bother to bring good ideas
- Poor communication across all levels
- Poor transparency (HR, Salary, Decisions, Hiring, firing, etc.)

I have been working at RPX full-time

    Pros

Nice office space and location and generally nice people.

    Cons

No brand recognition. No focus. Very few good managers. Myopic and focused only on the short-term. No growth in equity over the past 2-3 years. Morale is at an all time low. Ultra political. No marketing leadership.

Over the past year or two, the company has lost its President, CTO, Head of HR, Head of Acquisitions, Head of Structured Acquisitions, Head of Data Services, Head of Data Science and Analytics, and twice the Head of Product Management (2 smart guys who rightfully refused to deal with the politics). Needless to say, the leadership void is tremendous.

    Advice to Management

Go private. Cut the fat. Stop pecking at your smartphones during meetings. Stop asking people to make slides that tell clients why they should throw even more cash your way and instead do things that are in their best interest. We want to help our clients but you're not letting us!

    Pros

Interesting business. Interesting mix of people.

    Cons

What are the challenges of working here?

Realizing that it's a company run by salesman for other salesman so there's no incentive to do anything right - they just want something shiny that holds up for the two hours it'll be in front of a client - then they'll move on

    Advice to Management

Not much to say. Problems with the RPX culture originate at the top.
