I worked at RadioShack full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The flexible scheduling and getting to work with new and emerging technologies is a lot of fun. If you're a big gadget nerd this is a fantastic place to bring your passion to.

    Cons

The compensation and commission left something to be desired, forcing employees to be great salesmen if they wanted to make a decent living wage. I felt that it took away from the idea that people at RadioShack were supposed to have answers about technology, as all management wanted were people who could sell their highest priced products.

    Advice to Management

Placing more emphasis on a strong knowledge base will help bring customers back for bigger products and generate loyalty. Having employees who will only help you if you're there to make a big purchase is a big turn off for almost anyone.

I have been working at RadioShack full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

-You learn a lot about electronics
    -My manager was great

    Cons

    - The pay was terrible
    - The moral was down
    - Hard to make sales on certain items
    - You are constantly told you have to sell accessories on large ticket items
    - The assistant manager didn't defend me when I was screamed at by a customer
    - Yes! It is a law that you get a 30 minute break, but the store seems to always have people come in so you always work through your break... so much for a break...

    Advice to Management

-The people on the bottom are who are making money (appreciate them)
    - The rewards were always for the managers and never for a sales associate
    - Realize that the kids and adults working in the stores make little money with a large amount of responsibility and are treated poorly by the district managers
