I have been working at RadioShack full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

Fun atmosphere. Most of the people are great to work with.

Cons

High turnover. At the sales associate level: They pay minimum wage, no matter how long you've been there. Constantly changing commission & the goals you have to meet to achieve it. No raises whatsoever. This includes if you become a key holder/person in charge. During the short period they had Assistant Mgrs, they only pay them $8.40/hr. To make up for the raise in pay, you get less commission than the sales associates. Therefore, the pay still equals the same. Even the store managers don't make what you would think is fair, for holding such a position. They dangle the possibility of corporate jobs in front of you. They tell you you can work your way into positions. Even if you are qualified for the position, it is not what you know. It's who you know.

Advice to Management

Give yearly raises for doing a good job, & for holding positions of higher responsibility. Quit blowing money on things that don't help the company. If less was blown, it could be spent on paying the employees.

I have been working at RadioShack full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

great talks about electronics, great employee discount, great employee wireless plans,

    Cons

a roller coaster company, 3 CEOs in 4 years, this company blows money on anything and everything it believes can help itself. constant pressure on selling accessories with key items. service plans cost more and so is the pressure on selling them. advertising has leveled down to everyone believing the head of the merchandising/ planograms /POP dept, might be a 16 year old novice with photoshop. company wants to get rid of tenured managers because of not adapting to changes quickly, because company changes are.... quickly! company is a haven for wireless fraud, so stores that cant control it cannot sell wireless, but..your sales goals stay the same...and the sales goals are never realistic at all...so finally....no chance to monthly bonus! Radioshack has harbored alot of Blockbuster executives and middle management where their past philosophy was dont care about your people....and it still goes on.....

    Advice to Management

every new CEO takes office, gets the crowd pumped up, gets a spike in sales , but ever so slowly, the share holders gain control over them.....again... and its right back to the century old tactics..
