I worked at RadioShack part-time (Less than a year)

Pros

Commission
Relatively quiet work environment since people rarely shop there
Paid out-of-work meetings to enlighten associates about new products for the quarter

Cons

minimum wage
very little room to advance your career
poor management in most stores
poor work environment (my location had mold and roaches)
males get special treatment over females
very sales-oriented (do not care about building customer relationships)
company pushes for a high competitive nature among associates, instead of teamwork

Advice to Management

Be fair to every sales associate

I have been working at RadioShack full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I can't think of any pros. It used to represent a paycheck, but after today's news there's not much to say.

    Cons

1000 stores are being closed for "poor performance" when the real reason for any of this is the fact that Radioshack hasn't kept up with the times and has gone down market over the last 15 years. There were so many wrong decisions, and not enough investment in online. I don't even know where to begin.

Everyone has expected this for a long time, so the cut throat games of survival started a while ago. As such, the work environment is toxic as people try to salvage jobs.

    Advice to Management

Care about your employees, build long term. Only bold decisions can save the company now.

I have been working at RadioShack full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The area I work in has a family feel to it. If I have personal business to take care of, I can without being made to feel guilty..

    Cons

No room for promotion unless you are part of the "in" crowd. Benefits/low pay

    Advice to Management

Give real raises to those of us doing the real work.
