I worked at Raymond James Financial as a contractor

Pros

My co-workers were nice and helpful.

Cons

IT Management has no clue as to which direction they are heading. You can't effectively run a company by only looking at operational cost. Without good IT people for support, the core business won't run smoothly no matter how much business is brought in.

Advice to Management

Stop looking at everything from a cost savings perspective and think about your employees.
Loyalty has to go both ways.

I worked at Raymond James Financial as an intern (More than a year)

    Pros

Worked with great people, learned an incredible amount of new things, treated with a lot of respect, very willing to work around my class schedule.

    Cons

The environment you work in is kind of depressing (classic fluorescent lights and cubicles) and the walls are covered with tasteless art.

I worked at Raymond James Financial full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Company leadership is very strong. Very ethical company with good morals and excellent decision-making.

    Cons

Southfield Michigan location has few chances for advancement in IT. Corporate office in Florida has many, many more opportunities. IT leadership has changed over the last 3 years and with it the culture has dramatically changed. It isn't a coincidence the company dropped off the ComputerWorld's 100 Best Places to Work in IT. Upper management is dominated by NY managers who have less regard for people than results
