    Pros

SOCIAL -RBFC football team who train weekly and play in the London Fintech League. Great way to network with other companies in the space and games are always followed by a social afterwards. Whether you’re a player or a supporter, there’s always ways to get involved! Fun football socials such as bubble football! -End of Quarter parties for the entire office. Think 40s themed party on a ship in the middle of... the Thames. -Friday drinks every week! -Running/climbing/board games club. ........If there isn't a club that you fit into.... then why not start one?! OFFICE PERKS -Unlimited Nespresso coffee -Daily fruit and snacks -Lots of meeting rooms with Apple TVs and zoom -Breakout areas and sofas for collaboration among teams -Discounted pop up lunch vendors twice a week in the building. -Discounted cafe on the ground floor. Avocado toast for £2? Take my money! COMPANY PERKS -Discounted cinema tickets. -Discounted holiday packages. -Competitive commission structure for account managers, partner success consultants and new sales. -Holiday increases the longer you have been with the company. -Ability to carry 5 days of untaken holiday into the following year. -Bupa healthcare and Medicash (where you can claim money back on things such contact lenses, glasses, reflexology etc...) PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT -Quarterly reviews with your manager are a time to discuss what you love/hate about your role and how you can get to the next stage of your career. -Peer feedback every 6 months. You get to choose who you receive the feedback from. This is super helpful especially if you have been working closely with a particular individual on a project and you want some advice. Would you prefer to get the feedback in themes, or outright? Everyone takes feedback differently, so how you receive that feedback is up to you. -Firesides for company updates/educational purposes by external speakers (eg on AI). -During my time here, many of my peers have progressed into leadership positions. This is testament to my colleagues hard work and Receipt Bank’s commitment to ensuring that the people grow with the company. -Opportunity to win global competitions and travel to an office of your choice for a period. -Opportunity to do confidential online coaching with a professional on an ongoing basis. PARTNER SUCCESS TEAM -The partner success team is broken up into onboarding, implementation, adoption and retention. There is a Partner Success Consultant (PSC) for every stage of the customer journey. -The support from a Sales Ops & Passive Account management team in the background to ensure that we have the correct data and dashboard to be able to make good decisions at the right time. -The Partner Success Team managers have worked from the ground up so they are really amazing at providing “in the trenches” advice and help as they have all been in a similar situation and “get it”. -Everything we do is done with a global and regional (EMEA/APAC/NA) mindset. Standups and slack channels ensure that we are all working towards a common goal and best practice is shared. CULTURE -Really fun and young culture. Not only are we colleagues, we are great friends! -Management, both senior and middle are super approachable and get involved. -Everyone genuinely cares about what they do and are very product of the product and customer journey that we have built. -Cross team collaboration is fantastic. (eg the handover of a customer from sales to onboarding to account management). Constant feedback results in continuous improvements and refinement in processes. -Senior Management are very good at communicating the company vision and aspirations. -Have an idea? Give it a go. Try it, test it. If it works great, if it doesn't no worries. INDUSTRY -The cloud accounting and bookkeeping industry is one that has remained relatively unchanged for decades, however with the introduction of the cloud, software vendors such as Receipt Bank and changes in government legislation, bookkeeping and accounting has been revolutionised. It is a very exciting industry to be in right now and you will gain a lot of industry expertise in a short period of time. -Opportunity to attend lots of trade fairs and conferences such as Xerocon, Accountech, Accountex, QB Connect etc... Xerocon’s key note was from Chris Hoy this year and they had indoor zipling.. Who said accountancy conferences were boring?! All in all, an amazing opportunity that I would seriously recommend!

    Cons

-If you don’t like working in a fast paced company then this is not the place for you. Things will change regularly. The joys of working for an agile company! -Expect a baptism of fire (but in a good way). From day one you will have responsibility and will be expected to hit the ground running. There will be lots of “on the job” learning and you will be expected to do the extra reading and take ownership of... your development.

I worked at Receipt Bank full-time for more than a year

    Pros

I cannot overstate the quality of the people I have met at RB, especially those who were part of the hiring push in 2018. It's not a bad product either and quite easy to sell outside of North America. My salary and benefits were industry-standard for the duties listed in my job description. The experience I gained at RB is second to none. Even with insane workload, I spent my first 6 months at Receipt Bank working... in a dream company with my dream colleagues.

    Cons

I was directly mislead about my role and its trajectory on a routine basis. This is a pretty common practice at Receipt Bank that you can see reflected in other reviews. Within 30 days of hiring my role did not remotely resemble what I had signed on for. Promises of help or raises simply evaporate or are treated like they never occurred. There is no work life balance at Receipt Bank, and no drive internally to... try to fix this. Schedules of 70+ hours a week would have been understandable in a much earlier stage startup, if employees were provided equity, or if bonuses were offered for this kind of performance. However in a 450 person company it becomes quickly obvious that it is instead a result of poor planning by senior management. Employee basics are frequently neglected - especially those typical to a SaaS company. In the North America office this is due to layoffs of basic staff members without adequate plans in place for support. Paychecks were late, missing hundreds to thousands of dollars in reimbursements, or missing altogether twice in my case. Very young salespeople were having to expense paper towels and coffee. One staff member was forced to expense thousands of dollars at events due to lack of planning by office head management. Many managers have been quickly promoted without the experience or support needed to be effective in their positions. This is the case around the world in every Receipt Bank office. Many align with toxic aspects of the new culture due to having no chance to be set up for success. This lack of empathy manifests in normal behavior in any other SaaS office environment being regarded with mistrust. If Receipt Bank now values employees at every level only when their screens are visible and their bodies are in their seats, don't mislead new hires about that on the new round of job listings.

    Advice to Management

Receipt Bank has lost the ethical heart that made it a great place to work. There are no consequences in the culture for violating basic ethical norms. Gaslighting staff is a serious, toxic problem. Showing in actions that ethics matter at Receipt Bank has to come from the top - with real consequences and no matter the employee's title. I am genuinely heartbroken over having to leave. I love Receipt Bank, the... customers, the people in it. But nothing in this review is new to anyone reading it internally. Nothing included is not an item I fought to help fix, to escalate, to sound the alarm about for over a year. People will only stay for so long until they see that nothing they or their leaders have done have changed the situation.
