I worked at Red Lobster part-time (More than 5 years)

Pros

Our store had great management which definitely has a trickle effect onto employees and kept them happy. Whenever we needed to find a manager, one was always easy to find and ask for assistance. We received reviews every 6 months to keep us aware of how well we were doing. Our particular store did really well in our region and received a gift card of $25. And we had pot lucks during holidays :)

Cons

We didn't have breaks, and they stressed not to break violate. If you did...you got written up, which seemed unfair at times because we worked off the clock a lot too.

Advice to Management

I loved our management, much better compared to so many other restaurants I worked at.

I worked at Red Lobster part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I loved many of the people I worked with.
    Advanced in the kitchen quickly.
In the beginning, there were good raises.
Was able to use my experiences with Red Lobster to gain internships with two large companies.

    Cons

They ask a lot of their employees that are competent. You are always picking up the slack for the people that can't hack it.
The job is hard on you physically and mentally.
Split shifts ruin your whole day. Hours not consistant.

  2. "Good company to work for, needs stronger leadership from upper management and corporate"

I have been working at Red Lobster full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The staff is very caring, the pay is adequate for the job being done, health care benefits are appropriate, networking with others

    Cons

Can be an extremely stressful work environment, pressures from corporate often create a difficult environment, hours are not very flexible, it is difficult to have a life outside of work.

    Advice to Management

Try to understand that in order to be happy in the workplace, people would like to have a life outside of their jobs. Long hours, 50-60+ hour work weeks, and working on the holidays are not a way to create job satisfaction. Unrealistic pressures from corporate also make working here frustrating.
