Pros

Wonderful people to work with, both brilliant and personable. Everyday is an adventure with new challenges and lofty goals, so if you love strategic problem solving this i the place for you.

Cons

The job environment has been sinking a little as the pressure of the economy and as public perception continue to press upon the insurance industry as a whole.

I worked at Regence BlueCross BlueShield of Oregon full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good benefits and, depending on what department you're in, you can have good opportunities to grow and gain experience. There are wonderful coworkers and support staff. Some departments are fantastic to work for.

    Cons

Management has radically changed in the last few years. The focus on production and the bottom-line is forcing mass lay-offs, budget cuts that hurt quality of work, unusual demands for those still in the company without proper compensation or consideration for the "life balance" the company claims interest in. Not all departments run like this.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees and grasp realistic expectations

I worked at Regence BlueCross BlueShield of Oregon full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

There were opportunities to move up and regular raises if you performed well.

    Cons

Things seemed to change after new leadership and layoffs became common. The system for laying off workers didn't seem fair. Often older workers with seniority were let go with out any reason.

    Advice to Management

Be fair to the people that you count on to make the company successful.
