I worked at Regence full-time (More than 10 years)

Pros

Excellent benefits. Excellent proponent of health and wellness; practices what it preaches. Good message of transparency regarding health care. Community oriented. Well established. Not-for-profit company has it's members at the forefront rather than stockholders.

Cons

The sense of community and camaraderie in the work place has disappeared as employees have been encouraged to work remotely. Celebrations of staff and for staff are rare, if non-existent.

Advice to Management

Put your employees in the forefront along with your members.

I have been working at Regence full-time

    Pros

Telecommuting opportunity. Compensation. 401(k) match of 6%. Can really learn a lot from the great people on the front lines. Some possibility for moving to other areas in the company. Non-profit company. Small possibility for entrepreneurial work.

    Cons

No budget for team building. Promotion is only via the "good ol' boys" network. Recognition only for brown nosing. Lower-level executives are arrogant and often clueless about what's really happening in their departments. Managers can be good if they came from outside, but inside promotions regularly go to people who should never manage anyone. The truth is hidden and rumor is treated as fact. Often long work hours with little allowance for work/life balance.

    Advice to Management

Adding more branches of management at the bottom will not hide the fact that the rotten middle has cut off all flow of information to the top.

    Pros

Enterprise environment with some decent, smart people

    Cons

lots of people who are 'retired in place' RIP
a lot of fear of the unknown

    Advice to Management

It starts at the top - senior leadership needs to take a serious look at themselves..
