Positive Outlook

I have been working at Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point full-time (More than 8 years)

Pros

Leadership from Officers to Directors and Management are approachable, connected and interested. Despite what the media prints about a for profit hospital, this hospital is all about the patients and giving great care. Great pride and celebration every time another award is won. Staffed by hard working employees, and engaged management the culture is one that is open to new ideas and works hard to make an enjoyable work environment because happy employees do a better job and it shows! Feels like family, that is why so many people have worked here for so long.

Cons

Believe it or not this is also a plus. Part of a larger hospital system, sometimes change works slowly if it needs approval on a larger (corporate) scale. The plus is that being part of a large corporation means good pay, good benefits and the newest technology. This helps in job satisfaction and great patient care.

Advice to Management

Keep doing what you are doing. Seek input, implement if possible, keep innovating.

I have been working at Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Started working as a nurse intern while I went to school for my RN. Was offered a full-time RN position right out of school. Transferred to my preferred department within 7 months. Depending on the department, managers are very receptive to employee feedback. Great benefits--medical, dental, vision, short term/long term disability, life insurance.

    Cons

Unsafe staffing ratios. Assignments based on numbers, not acuity. On site daycare needs some facility improvement--very outdated. Administration highly focused on "patient experience" rather than employee satisfaction.

    Advice to Management

Focus on the "little people" that keep the hospital running. It is not all about administration. When employees are happy, everything else falls into place.

    Pros

Great co-workers. They offer some tuition/certification reimbursement. I honestly can't name enough positives to meet the Glass door minimum.

    Cons

Unsafe patient ratios. High turn over. Unsafe policies. Heavily staffed with travelers. Low pay.

    Advice to Management

Pay your nurses better and treat them better. We need safe patient ratios to provide good care.
