I have been working at Reinsurance Group of America full-time (More than 8 years)

Pros

Great company to work for. Lots of benefits.

Cons

Constantly in classes and meetings for this department. Not able to spend enough time on actual work. Managers could use training. Don't have enough time to manage employees since they are in constant meetings. Currently high turnover of employees due to poor management.

Advice to Management

Focus on the people that help you obtain your goals. Cut out meetings and value your employees. Stop playing favorites. Or else provide another layer of management.

I have been working at Reinsurance Group of America full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Smart actuaries. Core of the business. Very generous vacation policy. Work is not strenuous. Most people do not work more than 40 hours. A busy week is 50-60 hours.

    Cons

They are going to run into some headwinds soon. Support departments such as it, finance and admin are inefficient. Too many new managers with big egos trying to rise to the top. They require 7-8 years experience for analyst jobs.

Too high manager/associate ratio. In some departments its 1 manager per 3 employees. This includes their managers. insane!

    Advice to Management

Do not hire so many people from outside. They are changing the culture of the company for the worse. Specially in technology and admin.
