No opinion of CEO

Pros

great family atomosphere within teams
able to develop good relationships with your managers/dm's
great deliverance of information from head office
good organization of information and ways to run the buisness
fantastic training programs and on-boarding throughout career
always great opportunities to succeed, and be promoted; company promotes from within first

Cons

very low salaries in such a competitive market for all levels of employees, regardless of previous experience. makes you feel as if you do way too much work than what you're getting paid for
dm's non existant at times and do not always provide support for store managers, and underappreciate what the store managers are doing to run their buisness
sizes and quality of product
price points keep increasing
benefits package not the greatest
bonus package mediocre, needs to apply to team leads
contests have awful prizes that part timers dont care to win
they talk alot about how they value you as an individual employee but this is often not shown
very high expectations that are normally not able to be met

Advice to Management

the day to day job is enjoyable, you meet fantastic people and learn alot. this is a great job to start off with in retail where you can learn a lot and gain a great base of information but i would not reccommend reitmans as somewhere to stay for the long run. upper management need to realize what actually goes on at store level and perhaps even stay in a store for longer than an hour or two, speak with customers and do some work themselves. they always have a lot to say but are hardly willing to actually help. if you work hard and do a good job, you will get promoted but you will never be compensated properly. head office needs to raise compensation to reduce turn over and pay you for the hard work you actually do.

    Approves of CEO

    Pros

As most of the companies, your team and manager will lead your experience there. But if I think about the overall work environment, I can tell it;s familiar and focused on strong values of respect, and integrity.

    Cons

The salaries and benefits aren;t competitive.
