    I worked at Rent-A-Center full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Having a job is better than not having one.

    That's it.

    Cons

    Everything else.

Most stores being decimated by the economy, say goodbye to that bonus check.

No life outside of work. 50+ hour work weeks.

Dumbing yourself down to deal with both customers and employees.

Racist customers. Was called "white devil" more than once, to which I let loose the "n word" as loud as I could.

Guns pulled on me twice on repossessions.

Corporate "What have you done for me lately?" mentality. Your history doesn't matter, only your numbers today / this week.

    Advice to Management

Change the manager compensation back to 5% of store profit.

    I have been working at Rent-A-Center full-time

    Pros

Decent Pay; Employee purchase program; benefits

    Cons

Looong hours; Unatainable standards at times; constant back-stabbing; lazy store managers

    Advice to Management

Look at company standards. Should be standards based on location, not overall companywide standards. Stores should be held to different delivery standards based on economic situations where they are located. Also, having all these contests for store managers and none for the Assistants or CAR's is pointless because they are the ones who do 90% of the work in most stores, so why should they benefit when there are four or five other individuals doing all the work? A store managers role is NOT to simply sit back, relax and watch the show. It is to lead by example.
