Pros

-Room for improvement.
-Ideas and opinions are heard, and company still runs/feels like a smaller company.
-Very good health benefits
-People are friendly.

Cons

Company grew quickly and they were not adequately prepared for the growth. Are resistant to hiring enough people to cover the increased workload. Processes are unorganized, lack proper communication, and technology is out of date and not utilized enough.

They are also very stingy with holidays as well as vacation time.

Advice to Management

Encourage new, innovative process improvements as well as technology.

    Pros

    Excellent healthcare program, growing company, regular investment in facilities, loyal to long-time employees, willing to experiment with new products and marketing techniques, non-union

    Cons

    difficult to attract and retain good employees due to low wages, inadequate change management, poor communication of expectations to personnel at plant level, plant management expected to perform as a world-class organization with sub-par non-salaried employees and lacking the tools necessary to motivate employees, lack of technical support. Reser's went from a company that no one had heard of to a company that no one wants to work for in just a few months.

    Advice to Management

    Reser's may have bitten off more than it can chew with its acquisition of Orval Kent out of bankruptcy, senior management expecting too much from plant management while not providing support, personnel, and communication necessary to succeed.

    Excellent employee culture supported by receptive and communicative management.
    Great benefits.
    Good advancement opportunities.
    A wide network of locations, so transfer opportunities exist.

    Cons

    Corporate offices seem more interesting in expanding the company than improving existing sites.
    Not proactive in pursuing solutions to known concerns/problems.
