Pros

The best reasons to work for Rexel is that it's a worldwide company and you have the opportunity to work just about anywhere. Also there is room for advancement it you're driven to do so. Our benefits are pretty good, health, dental and vision along with paid holidays and vacation. Sales commisions are available to those who qualify.

Cons

It seems that management is reactive instead of proactive. They prefer to ignore problems and hope they go away instead of confronting them. It seems that it's getting harder to find people that want to work in wholesale distribution, or that want to work at all. Our head of HR talks to employees and managers as if they are stupid.

Advice to Management

Pay attention. Stop waiting for a small problem to become a major situation.

I worked at Rexel Group full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Some of the colleagues were genuinely helpful and good and the working environment was decent.

    Cons

After the change in management, business has dropped drastically. Key managers are keen to pivot to their favourite sectors while ignoring the others. Morale at branch is low due to various cost cutting measures including retrenchments. Some people are not suitable to lead yet are in the position due to various reasons. This leads to a situation where subordinates are not able to have good leadership and guidance.

    Advice to Management

The best people may not be the people who hold the same passport as you. Learn to broaden your thinking as your method of doing business in the past may not be relevant in this part of the world.

I worked at Rexel Group full-time

    Pros

Working for such a large company with scope for movement and progression was always attractive.

    Cons

The heavy laden middle management culture, where most are trying to protect their own jobs and make sure people are not seen to be doing more than they do. It is nearly impossible to do anything with the amount of paperwork required

    Advice to Management

Do what you say you are going to do, and let the employees with more than half a brain achieve success, dont limit them to be the same as everyone else.
