Pros

The pay is above average for similar jobs elsewhere and if you make it to a management position the bonuses are awesome.

Cons

Everybody knows that working for a tobacco company in a declining industry is not the best, but hey, they pay pretty well. Senior management is more involved in politics than anything else. Most often than not they reward the wrong behavior (politics vs. performance). They just got rid of 40% of the salaried employees in Winston Salem. Sure enough they kept some of the worst managers I've ever seen in my 15 years of professional experience.

Advice to Management

Get down to work. Make the tough desicions and look at your consumers and your brands.

    Pros

Money is great. Benefits are great. They give you a lot of hope to a bright career. They are very innovative, but oddly everything flops. Bonuses can be great and the vacation time is adequate. They prepare you to take on the world and their information is top notch.

    Cons

The hope ends quickly. Management is weak at best. They are constantly changing and most cases its to the betterment of those in the office. This is a market that has been declining for the last 10 years at a rate of 3%, due the math many will not retire here. Number two company with a large gap between number one.

    Advice to Management

You have the best sales group out there, quit telling them that and show them.

I worked at Reynolds American full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Not enough money to quit, not enough for what you do. 9% 401K $1 for $1. $150/month for a car??? Good Ole Girl network (used to be Good ole boy).

Company strategy to grow isn't bad.

    Cons

Management uses surveys to "fix" deficiencies, but in turn really just makes things worse.
Management needs to take a Xanax on "policy".
Management just needs to realize our "culture" is rotten to the core and has been for a long time.
Management needs to stop trying so hard and "let it be" as the Beatles sung.
Management needs to chill on this productivity deal and realize the worker bee's are simply over-worked.
Management needs to realize we all have a pretty good gig' and we need to just ride the gravy train.
    CE's are terrible
    CE's can get you fired
    FDA should ban CE's

    Advice to Management

Stop trying. Stop asking for feedback, you only use that to identify people being "negative"
