I worked at Rockstar Games full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Talented, dedicated team members.
    - Impressive tools infrastructure.
    - They pay you
    - They occasionally let you take time off without a huge hassle (but will sometimes threaten you if plan to, even if you don't have any pressing tasks)

    Cons

    - Insanity. (seriously, you're going to gave some fing crazy stories if you work here)

    - Huge design egos that cant back it up.

    - "butt in seat" mentality, unhealthy attitude toward work that is not rooted in performance goals or accomplishments.

    - Everything you do on your computer is actively watched remotely by various levels of management... yes, for real.. they even disable personal email to prevent personal privacy violation lawsuits.

    - If that isn't enough looking over your shoulder, one studio director likes to place large life-size stand up posters behind by peoples desks overnight, so that people come in to see the image of a person literally staring at their screen.

    Advice to Management

    - Fire your friends if they suck at their job.

    - Stop drinking so much.

    - Quit the micromanaging, big brother thing you got going on, it's not a good look.

    - DO NOT give creative control over a multimillion dollar project to a team of designers that have only worked on minigames and small components for your other games.

    - Provide credit and positive feedback when something is done well, don't rely on the leads to do it, they are afraid of their positions being usurped, since many of them are either your friends or were promoted since you deemed them loyal for working a lot and doing what you wanted... but they're not actually that talented.
