I worked at Rolls-Royce full-time

Pros

Interesting industry, products and customers. Very technology and engineering driven.

Cons

Senior management constantly changing priorities and strategies. A new round of headcount reductions every six - twelve months. Company is trying to offset cost problems by cutting headcount and compensation and benefits -- seems like management considers this to be the universal answer to everything. Support functions have been especially hard hit making it difficult for business units to get the information they need.

Advice to Management

Hire a CEO who understands how high technology, capital intensive products are developed and delivered over the long run. Anyone can come in and just cut headcount. Trying to control all decision making from the UK undermines local leadership and career development.

    I worked at Rolls-Royce full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Parent company is a global company and presents global opportunities

    Cons

Toxic purchasing executive with no respect for lower level employees in the purchasing department

    Advice to Management

Replace this guy before every good purchasing employee leaves your company. Train executives such as this purchasing executive to be acting global. Rolls-Royce is more than a middle Ohio company

I have been working at Rolls-Royce full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Training, Tuition Reimbursement, Professional Development, Flex-Hours & remote access (not everyone gets this), Great Location Downtown, Free parking in a private/public garage, Discounts with Dell, Health Plans, Clean and Open Workplace

    Cons

Non-Competitive salary (driving salaries down), Little to no possibilities for advancement, Undervalued and overwhelmed with two peoples worth of work, To many processes that are built around CYA, No accountability for management, Parent Company doesn't trust anything it's US entities do, Every year reduction of work force, massive re-orgs every year, Company's IT systems are the worst

    Advice to Management

Need whole new product line, Diversify into other products like our competitors, PAY YOUR EMPOLYEES WHAT THEIR WORTH AND FOR THE WORK THEY DO.
