I worked at Ross Stores part-time (More than a year)

Pros

Get to meet some great people in customer service and when busy work days usually go by pretty fast. Coworkers are always willing to help.

Cons

Corporate management talks down to employees and at times does not recognize hard work.

Advice to Management

Compensation should be increased and learn to appreciate hard working employees.

I worked at Ross Stores full-time

    Pros

Certain divisions are very good and in these areas there are opportunities for growth. Work/life balance is trying to be improved. Compensation is competitive.

    Cons

There is no consistency among divisions. Some areas have great, team focused, healthy, work/life balanced environments and others are the complete opposite. Upper management does well managing numbers but does not excel at managing or growing people. Communication can also be inconsistent overall both between immediate managers and upper management. There is also a significant amount of micromanagement and overall lack of training when transitioning into new areas.

    Advice to Management

Allow employees (assistant buyers and buyers) to give anonymous feedback. Having feedback meetings in which HR and senior management sit in aren't going to produce candid, honest, feedback.
