I worked at Royal Caribbean Cruises full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Selling cruises and the opportunity to interact via telephone with some very interesting customers and travel partners.

    Cons

Promotions based on seniority, not talent or skill-based - Ridiculous business rules that leave employees feeling micro-managed - Assigned multiple job duties and tasks that fell outside of described realm of responsibilities - Performance based on metrics that employee has absolutely no control over - Schedule changes constantly - Forced overtime - No real upward mobility just horizontal growth

    Advice to Management

Stop taking advantage of the employer job market. In the time I was with RCCL I saw so much turnover that it was rather disheartening. Treat your employees well and you will retain quality employees instead of having to constantly hire and re-train mediocre employees. Not a difficult concept.

I have been working at Royal Caribbean Cruises full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

You will get paid to see the world. You will meet amazing people and get to do amazing things.

    Cons

Be prepared to work in an environment that is populated with people from other cultures around the world. That means people that are not used to women being the boss. The health care on board is far from American Standards. Be aware you will live where you work.

    Advice to Management

Please take care of you're crew better. At the end of the day its a business, but you need to remember that a miserable crew gives a miserable product.
