I have been working at Rutgers University part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Job security: you won't get fired unless you do something really wrong.
Relaxed work: It's a public university, so you know that most people don't work overtime.
Good work/life balance: free admission to university properties such as Gym.

    Cons

The University is large and governed by the board. It's often hard to change things because they have to go through many processes.

    Advice to Management

Be more open to the public in the employment opportunities.

    Pros

Very positive... great environment for higher learning. Close to New York City, Philly, mountains and the shore.

    Cons

It's a state university so there's total transparency.... You need to be ready for expendatures to be on the front page of the newspaper

    Advice to Management

Salary freeze is compromising your ability to retain some of your best employees
