Don't work here - Business Development Manager Rylem Employee Review

      Pros

Some good people, opportunities for entry-level positions

      Cons

Extremely poor management. Biz Dev is primarily cold-calling lists mined from LinkedIn. Existing clients and relationships are scarce. Rylem's product is staffing services which are delivered by a very junior team. Turnover is quite high primarily because employees learn that this is not a company with strong growth prospects unless one is starting from entry-level. If you're reading this it is because you are already working for Rylem, or you are about to turn down an offer. I cannot image anyone who would read through this list of reviews still choosing to work for this company.

We are very sorry to see you go, and hear about your feedback this way. We wish there would have been an active exchange of thoughts during your employment at Rylem, to improve the situation and find a better way to work together. Turnover is generally high in Staffing and Recruiting. This industry is very fast-paced and people move on to new challenges at a heartbeat. “At nearly 300%, turnover in the staffing industry is perhaps the highest of any industry in the nation. In 2013, staffing employee turnover was 263%, down from 294% in 2012—setting a new record low, which had previously been 277% in 2010.” (source: https://americanstaffing.net/posts/2014/10/01/climb-continues/) Please find this article and study, it is very interesting and helpful in that matter. Recruiters at Rylem are doing their best to fill the roles the BDMs bring in to the business. I’m sure you’ve worked just as hard as we do, and yet haven’t found the success at Rylem you sought. We wish you all the best in your future endeavors and hope you find a company and role that brings you happiness and a successful career!

        Pros

I've been with Rylem 5 years and these are the highlights that have kept me here: Best culture I've experienced in a workplace, ability to own your own book of business and treating it like your own company, creativity to try different ideas is welcomed, direct access to the CEO so you don't have to jump through hoops to get things approved/ask questions/discuss ideas, a CEO that challenges you to push yourself in a motivating and positive way (I've grown as a BDM and as a person because of his management style), amazing commission structure!

        Cons

Globally spread out team, challenging to have onsite team activities, but remote flexible work location options is a perk.

          Pros

*Supportive Management Team *Creativity encouraged *Flexible remote set up *Great comp structure for commission

          Cons

*Team is spread out all over, so much onsite collaboration, but having remote flexibility outweighs that.

Any genuinely good way to answer the "biggest weakness" question without sounding like a cliche. Anyone have any good examples?

I interview with this place about a week and a half ago. I think it went well and in the interview she said the next step would be a writing example, so I did that. Sent it to them the day it was due and haven't heard back since. She did say any next steps would be after thanksgiving since everyone was busy and their calendars full last week. I followed up on Monday with an email, but haven't heard back. Maybe it's taking awhile or should I try again end of week? I would at least like feedback.

I was promised a decision made by mid last week. I followed up on Thursday last week and got a response the update is now followed up with the hiring manager and their director and expect hear back by middle of next week. What should I be expecting if it’s delayed on promised update timeline from the hiring manager interview?
