    Pros

    great work environment. competitive salary. great location. The benefits were stellar. I was treated very well as a new-comer.

    Cons

    more difficult to advance career. you feel a little dumber after working here. inexperienced lower- level management. have managers take a course on management. Simple things like taking notes at meetings and setting deadlines, with weekly reports, should seem obvious to managers, but are often overlooked.

    I worked at S&P Global Market Intelligence full-time for less than a year

    Pros

    Good work-life balance and general flexibility with career options

    SPGMI is going through a lot of change post-merger with SNL on the technology and personnel fronts. Speaking only for the Market Intelligence (MI) division, S&P's commercial structure is only conducive to employees in the main offices which are NYC & CHO. People in satellite offices without good visibility with management are at-risk of being cut as they seek to further streamline the structure in the coming years. Unfortunately, the power dynamic of legacy S&P is being shifted to executives in Charlottesville from NYC-which isn't necessarily a good thing. Many of these people in CHO don't have MBAs and their approach isn't necessarily the best--but they don't see that. The structure of the commercial team across different client segments serves clients better but comes at the expense of satellite office dynamics. Employees in other offices/regions are often not on the same team & it can feel like everyone is working for a different company. Also, S&P tends to underpay its employees on the Commercial side versus competitors with similar roles; however, employees who crush it do well. Being successful at S&P is mostly a combination of luck and being in the right place at the right time--most of the top players & good people have left for better places because of this trend.
