Pros

If you work on an interesting program for a positive customer, you can find yourself surrounded by smart, enthusiastic people who want to learn from you and who you can learn from. IF you are in the right part of the company, opportunities can be excellent - but it's the luck of the draw.

Cons

Its not the same since we went public. When a program ends, the default is a layoff letter - you're mostly on your own to find another position. And while there are lots of open job reqs, there is no systematic attempt to match open positions with employees losing coverage.

Advice to Management

Treat employees less like line replaceable units and more like your most valuable assets. If you show no loyalty, they will return the favor.
