I worked at SAIC full-time (More than 8 years)

Pros

Large company with lots of different types of opportunities.
Fair compensation.
Lots of very talented and dedicated employees.
Management was supportive but not overly controlling.

Cons

The only Con was that I always felt that I needed to be on the look out for the next opportunity, but that is to be expected in a Consulting environment.
Career planning is a challenge because opportunities are limited by available projects, once again this is a constraint of working for a Consulting operation.

I worked at SAIC full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Access to excellent IT and HR support. Company is well established with clear guidelines and responsibilities.

    Cons

There were so many managers, I had more managers than co-workers. Essentially the only people that completed technical work were non-management employees and it was incredibly hard to get the work done within our budgets while we were paying for so many high salaried managers who were not performing technical work. Also, there was difference in salaries between men and women in the same position with the same experience. Women got paid significantly less than their male counterparts.

    Advice to Management

You are too top heavy. Reduce the number of managers/supervisors to essential personnel. Also, pay women the same competitive salaries that you pay the men.
