    Great company for defense contractors

    Pros

    Unlike many defense contracting companies that are focused on hiring warm bodies to fill contract positions... in my 10+ years at SAIC, I found it to be a company that actually cares for its customers and employees. For contractors working full-time at a customer site, SAIC provides excellent back-end support and training opportunities, and you actually feel like you're part of the company. You have the tools, resources, & reach-back needed to deliver excellence to your customers; and because "headquarters" understands & appreciates DOD very well, they understand & can be supportive of your daily working environment.

    Cons

    I found that advancement was somewhat predicated on participation in business-development activities.

    Pros

    Good pay, full benefits, PTO, tuition reimbursement, team building, supports growth and advancement, enables individual success

    Cons

    May not be prime on the contract you want, which can slow down job placement efforts. Additional training and learning is on your own time/unpaid.

    Great Company but...

    Pros

    The company is growing. It is going to be around for a very long time. Compensation is in the range it should be. The HR staff is wonderful to work with if you have an issue with your onboarding or any other issue. They've upgraded timekeeping and expense submission, making things easier. If you work in an actual SAIC office, you are treated great. They put the health and safety of their office workers first.

    Cons

    Most of their jobs center around the Washington DC area. There are very few jobs in my state. The pay is where it should be, but it puts you lower with the cost of benefits. If you are working remote, as in a contract with one of the clients for IT, you lose out on a lot of the perks, and it seems that things are a bit disconnected. During the height of the COVID-19 crisis, the decision to issue face shields and not face masks was made for people working in the field because it was more cost effective. even though CDC guidelines say face shields are not very effective due to the large air gap. They did not even consider the client's guidelines either.
